Ages and Stages - Showering

Life with a little one is all about different stages; they are constantly changing and developing so life is never dull. Today whilst in the shower I was reflecting on just how much life has changed over the past year. Even the simple act of showering has become a reflection of Curious George's development.

The development of Curious George as shown in my showering patterns.

  1. Right after birth - no showering but bathing 3 times a day for the stitches. Ouch and who wants to bath that often with a tiny baby. All you want to do is sleep when they're sleeping.
  2. First few months - shower when CG is sleeping.
  3. From about 4mnths - CG could now be propped up inside a wash basket with pillows. We called this his car. He loved to watch the water run down the glass and I'd draw with lather bubbles on the shower door.
  4. From about 6mnths - CG got a car upgrade and now had a big 80 litre storage tub on wheels. I added toys and songs to the shower time routine.
  5. From about 8mnths - CG stood up in the car one day and almost fell out while I was in the shower. So no more car for shower time. So now he sat on the floor and I opened the shower door a little bit and he puddled in the water through the gap.
  6. From about 9mnths - one day CG moaned and moaned until I undressed him so he could join me in the shower. Now he sat in the bottom of the shower and played with the water.
  7. From about 10mnths - same things but now the novelty of the water had worn off and he needed toys.
  8. Now at 12mnths - he still loves to shower with me but now he stands in the base of the shower and plays against the glass, writing in soap lather and sticking his foam creatures to the glass.
Just goes to show that every single aspect of your life becomes intertwined with your little one. Parenthood with seep into every crack of your life so if you are planning kids make sure you're ready for a change.
