Our Joburg Holiday

Last week Super Dad was away for 9 days in Mali and my mother (aka gogo) came to stay with us to help with the madness. She was on leave so we had considered going away together with the kids but the more we thought about it the more we realised that it would not be relaxing for either of us. Children out of their own environment and routine are never all that much fun plus there's all the paraphernalia you have to lug. So in the end we decided to stay at home and have a Joburg holiday.

We had the most wonderful week exploring JHB. Here's what we got up to:

We started at the Johannesburg Zoo and Curious George had a grand time running all around. He walked from the bottom of the hill all the way up to the lions dragging my poor mother all the way.

Look Gogo sheep.

Oh dear the big statue of Max the gorilla was just too scary for him.

They have such similar hair except one is created with chemicals.

Jelly Bean enjoying a suck of her hand and the leaves of the big plain tree on her first trip to the zoo.

J
Orango Tangos the next day. CG and JB enjoying the trampoline.

We were the only ones in the place so CG enjoyed playing in the big kids area. I even got to go down the big slides with him as an excuse. So much fun.

Everyone had a bounce on the jumping castle and CG and I had wrestling matches.

Having tea at The Secret Garden at Norscot Manor in Fourways.

Jelly Bean practising sit up while the wind blew.

Curious George made some friends and they all went rowing in the tire boat.
At the Irene Dairy Farm

Curious George discovered that chickens do not want to be inspected close up but he followed them for ages before we had to call him back.

Jelly Bean practised putting her dummy in.

We enjoyed sitting next to the duck pond but only mommy was willing to pose for photos.

Feeding the cows who were apparently so full of nice fresh grass they were not interested in hay.

And between every outing we did puzzles and puzzles and puzzles and puzzles until eventually on Saturday I went out and bought some new ones because we were all bored with doing the same ones again and again.
Doing a 45 piece Finding Nemo puzzle.
